WELCOME TO
This website is the result of three years' travel across five continents. It contains thousands of photographs and hundreds of stories from my travels; fruit picking in New Zealand, living on a kibbutz in Israel, hitchiking into the Sahara, island hopping through the Greek Islands, and thumbing my way from Alaska to Maine, via California!. From these incredible experiences, and the dream of trips to come, this website was born.
Since September 11, 2001, and the subsequent terrorist attacks around the world, many of us have succumbed to a feeling of fear and dread. These are troubled times but in times like these it's more important than ever- I believe- to get out there, and prove that the world is still a great place! Right now, I've been on the road since July 2003, travelling mostly by hitchhiking, and for accommodation relying on the kindness of people who follow my travels. Come along and join me, virtually!

HERE'S A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE STORIES FROM THIS TRIP...
Good luck for the New Year, Prague. Click for journal entry and more pics. Boating in Tennessee. Click for journal entry and more pics. The beautiful Egyptian Temple in Madrid. Click for journal entry and more pics. Doing the laundry in a cement mixer, in the Andalucian Mountains of Spain. Click for journal entry and more pics.
This website is one way to help fund my travel, and also to share my adventures (and often misadventures!) with anyone who is interested. As I make my way from country to country, I will update the website regularly, by way of a running journal, full of travel tips, stories, photos and short video clips.
It has become a very interactive site, too. You, the reader, have the opportunity to choose destinations for me, and tell me what places to visit while I'm there. You can invite me to see your town, or send me to some place that you've always been interested in.

A FEW MORE FAVOURITES...
Strange feelings in The Savage Files camp. Click for journal entry and more pics. Soaking up the culture at the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Click for journal entry and more pics. collecting pheasant eggs on a thirteen thousand acre Englis country estate. Click for journal entry and more pics. The abominable snowman sighted in Bletchingley!. Click for journal entry and more pics.
The response to this project has been phenomenal. The website is attracting a huge amount of traffic, and I've recieved so many invitations of free accommodation from people all over the world that I lost count at about a thousand! I've been trying to meet as many of these kind people as I possibly can, and with their consent, I add a brief profile of their lives on a special page in this website. So make yourself a cup of tea, and have a browse. If you don't know where to start, click here for help.

...BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE...
Into the Sahara on a camel called Jasper! Click for journal entry and more pics. Sea kayaking in Alaska, Mendenhal Glacier in the background. Click for journal entry and more pics. collecting pheasant eggs on a thirteen thousand acre Englis country estate. Click for journal entry and more pics. In trouble again. Toledo, Ohio.
